Increase Your Self-Esteem!!!This month's challenge deals with increasing your self-esteem. A low self-esteem keeps you from thriving in your life. It leads you to endless self-doubt and fear of failure which further decrease your self-esteem. You inevitably become stuck in this vicious cycle. Well, it's time to break loose of this cycle! Your challenge this month is to increase your self -esteem and watch your life thrive! Check out the self-esteem of the day quotes on the side to keep you going. So here's how to start: Step one: Love yourself: Discover your personality strengths. We all have our strengths and our weakness. Finding out who you are is the number one secret to success in life and increase in self-esteem. The first step you must take to increase your self-esteem is tosit down with a piece of paper, alone, in a quiet area. Now think about your personality qualities. What do you like about yourself? Are you generous, friendly, patient? Maybe your giving or you have a good sense of humor. Write down all the good personality traits that come to your mind. Next, write down your weaknesses. Do you get upset easily? Do you alwasy have negative thoughts about yourself? Do you care too much about what others think about you? You now hold in your hand a weapon for self-improvement. You can choose to make your good qualities even stronger and therefore increase your self-esteem. For example, if you are a generous person consider joining a volunteer group or get involved in a good cause. You can aslo choose to look at your weakness and improve each of them. So, for example, if you consatly think bad thoughts about yourself, then make a list of positive affiramtions. Everytime you get a negative thought about yourself replace it quickly with the positive one. Over time you will stop lowering your self-esteem wiht negative self-talk. Step two: Identify what negative core beliefs you have about yourself and challenge them. If you have negative core beliefs about your self-worth ( and we all are guilty of this at one time or another) then you must challenge these beliefs and change them. No it's not impossible!! Like I mentioned in step one above use daily positive self-talk can work miracles towards increasing your self-esteem. Along with this you must change your negative core beliefs. One great way to do this is to use a journal. Write down the negative core belief and challenge it by writing aspects in your life that prove otherwise next to it. So for example, if you have a negative belief that you are not loved, then you can write next to it something like " My dad called me on my birthday" or " I had a great lunch with my collegue today." These small reminders help you to see yourself in a new light. They negate the negative core belief. So what if you can't think of situations that challenge your negative self-belief, then try to create situations in your life to challenge the belief. So using the same example of beliving that you are unloved. You can go out and make new friends, make amends with broken family ties, or whatever else to prove to yourself that you are a lovable, worthy person. If you hold the negative core belief that you are unable to achieve anything, give yourself a challenge and do it. Then tell a friend about your accomplishment and recieve the praise and compliments. Do this for as many negative core beliefs that you can list and watch your self-esteem soar. Step three: Keep away from negative people! There might be people from among your friends or family who are influencing your negative self-beliefs. Stay away from people that constantly criticize you and put you down. Limit your contact with these people and learn to be assertive. Learn how to say "no" and remember that people will only respect you as much as you show them how. Also remember that a majority of negative people suffer from low self-esteem themselves and are probably just trying to spread the disease. So if you can't find it in yourself to empathsize with them and ignore their criticism, then stay away! At least until you build your own self esteem. There you have it, get to work on this months challenge. Good Luck! Resources to Help You Here is a great website to use while on this challenge.
