Child Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Child anxiety can devastate your child's life and steal their childhood. Research has shown that one out of every ten children suffer from panic attacks and child anxiety.
Sometimes the source of the child's anxiety is evident. Maybe a close family member just passed away or a sibling has a serious illness. Other times the reason for child anxiety is not clear. The most important thing for you to remember as a parent is that your child's panic attacks are NOT YOUR FAULT. A child's anxiety is not a reflection of bad parenting and you as a parent can take control of the situation and pull your child out of this horrible cycle of fear.
So what causes your child's anxiety? Anxiety is actually a bad habit. Like any habit it forms when the brain imprints a certain behavior and creates " neural pathways" so that every time your child feels certain emotions he automactically reacts a certain way.
For example, if your child is on the way to soccer practice and just for a slight moment he gets the negative thought "I'm a horrible player", "I'm going to be the reason my team loses". These small thoughts will trigger inside his body the flight or fight response. His body will start to release hormones such as, adrelanine, which are released in threatening situations. So his heart might start beating faster or his palms get sweaty. He realizes that he is nervous and this realization makes the hormone release even stronger. Now he's trapped in this cycle. His brain imprints this behavior and reacts the same way automatically every time that he has similar negative thoughts.
So what is the solution? How can you help your child regain his childhood and life back? The answer is simple. To get rid of a bad habit you must replace it with a good habit. You have to replace the emotions of fear, worry and low self-esteem with feelings of confidence and calm. Once you are rid of the negative emotions that trigger the anxiety response you will get rid of the anxiety. It's that simple!

The Anxiety-Free Child Program is a comprehensive and affordable set of resources that share one common goal- to help you get your child's life back with confidence and calm as quickly as possible.
Like any program, the anxiety-free child program has it's pros and cons.
Pros:
o It was created with children in mind. It uses simple language and easy to follow
instructions
o The program isn't filled with statistical and pyschological jagron that will only
confuse you more. Instead of focusing on WHAT to do the program focuses on
HOW to do it.
o The program is built on a series of "spiral successes", so that your child can feel
improvement within only the first couple of days. This immediate feeling of success
will give your child the incentive to keep going.
o Even you will benefit from this program. The Anxiety-FreeChild Program realizes
that the child's anxiety could be accidentally influenced by the adults in his life. By
using the program with your child you will feel better and will serve as a better
role model.
Cons:
o Although this program is comprehensive and all-inculsive, it still requires alot of
work on your part as a parent.
o Your child might be resistent to participating and it will take your ability to
motivate your child to get started. However, once he starts he should continue
on his own effortlessly.
o Although the program includes a wealth of information, including insight from some
of the most prominent mental health professionals in the country, I felt that you
might be able to get the general ideas and methods by researching the topic on
your own. However, be warned that you will never be able to get the same level of
organization and walk-through steps as is available in the program.
So there you have it , what I believe are, the pros and cons of the program. I hope the best for your family and remember: " Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation." C. Everet Koop, M.D.
